What calls you don’t pay for

The billable timer is your window to qualify the caller: 90 seconds for inbound, 2 minutes for a live transfer, 3 minutes for an elite live transfer. Hang up before the timer and the call is not charged against your prepaid credits. Stay on past the timer and the call is billable, even if the caller turns out to be unqualified. Dead air, duplicate callers and wrong numbers are not billed.
How does the billable timer work?
| Call type | Billable after | Hang up before the timer | Stay on past the timer |
|---|---|---|---|
| Inbound | 90 seconds | Not charged | Billable |
| Live transfer | 2 minutes | Not charged | Billable |
| Elite live transfer | 3 minutes | Not charged | Billable |
The timer is the rule: once a call passes it, the call is deducted from your prepaid credits at your per-call price, whether or not the caller qualifies. Qualify early, and if the caller isn't a fit, end the call politely before the timer runs out. See what a billable buffer is.
What should I screen for inside the timer?
Hang up before the timer on any of these and you aren't charged:
- Wrong state. The caller isn't in a state you are licensed in or operate in.
- No active bank account. The caller doesn't have an active checking or savings account.
- Thinks the coverage is free. The caller believes the product costs nothing.
- Outside the age range. For final expense, the caller is outside the roughly 50–85 age range.
Calls are routed only to the states you tell us you are licensed in, during the hours you set. See how HotInboundCalls works.
Which other calls are not billed?
- Dead air or silent calls. Nobody is on the line.
- Duplicate callers. The same caller calling again.
- Wrong numbers. The caller meant to reach someone else.
If you think a call was billed by mistake, dispute it within 72 hours (see below).
How do disputes work?
If you believe a call was billed by mistake, send us the call (date, time and caller number) within 72 hours. We review it against the call record and recording. A call can be disputed if it was a duplicate caller, a wrong number, or dead air or silence. A call that passed the timer is not disputable just because the caller did not qualify or did not buy: the timer is your window to screen for state, bank account, age 50–85 and understanding that coverage is not free. Approved disputes are credited back to your prepaid balance as call credit. They are not paid out as cash refunds. There is no platform fee and no contract: you only prepay for calls.
Which calls are billable?
A call is billable when it reaches your line and you stay on past the timer for its call type. It is deducted from your prepaid credits at your per-call price, $45 to $65 depending on volume, states and call type. See pricing.
Does a billable call mean a sale?
No. A billable call is a live conversation. Whether it closes depends on your script, products, follow-up and market. Results vary, and a caller may or may not qualify for coverage with a carrier.
How does this compare with other vendors?
Vendors word their rules differently: some use only a timer, some bill on caller criteria, and some list credit categories. We compare their published terms in the final expense call vendor roundup.

Book a callFrequently asked questions
Do I pay for a call that ends before the timer?
No. If you hang up before the billable timer (90 seconds inbound, 2 minutes live transfer, 3 minutes elite live transfer), the call is not charged against your prepaid credits.
What if I stay on with an unqualified caller past the timer?
The call is billable and deducted from your credits. The timer is your window to qualify, so hang up on an unqualified caller before it runs out.
What should I check inside the timer?
That the caller is in a state you are licensed in or operate in, has an active checking or savings account, understands the coverage is not free, and for final expense is within the roughly 50–85 age range.
Are dead air, duplicate callers or wrong numbers billed?
No. Dead air or silent calls, duplicate callers (the same caller calling again) and wrong numbers are not billed. If you think one was billed, contact us about that call.
Is a billable call a promise of a sale?
No. Results vary by agent, script, product and market.
